Helen Rodríguez Trías Google doodle honors physician who fought for women & children’s right to healthcare

This day’s Google doodle pays tribute to Dr. Helen Rodríguez Trías, a health care provider, educator, and staunch suggest for ladies’s and children’s trusty to healthcare.

At the foundation from New York City, Trías and her family moved to Puerto Rico when she used to be aloof a puny one. She earned her medical degree from the College of Puerto Rico’s medical college, and at closing returned to New York City to launch her notice.

At some level of her profession, she served as the director of the pediatrics division on the South Bronx Lincoln Sanatorium, creating packages for abused formative years, besides to HIV and AIDS patients. She used to be the founding father of the New York Latino Price on AIDS, and a founding member of the Ladies’s Caucus of the American Public Health Affiliation.

In 1993, she used to be the first Hispanic American lady to abet as the president of the American Public Health Affiliation. President Clinton awarded Trías the Presidential Voters Medal in 2001 for her work and advocacy efforts.

“Over time Dr. Rodríguez Trías expanded her efforts on a world scale, working tirelessly to enhance wisely being love families in Central and South America, Africa, Asia, and the Center East,” writes Google on the Google Doodle blog.

In step with Google, Trías acknowledged she turned a doctor because it mixed the issues she loved most: science and other folks.

“I hope I’ll gape in my lifetime a rising realization that we are one world,” acknowledged Trías, “No one goes to have quality of life except we enhance each person’s quality of life.”

This day marks what would have been Trías’ 89th birthday.
